Cymru Coast League - club gala
This is a gala where swimmers are chosen by the team manager to represent the club. All swims gain us points that are added up over the year. The club with the most points is awarded a shield at the end of the competitions.
This is divided into two age groups – the Minor League, from 8 and under to 11 years, and the Major League, from 12 to 15 years and over. It is the year you are born that is the important factor - i.e. if you are 12 this year you will swim in the Major League even if you are not 12 till December.
There are different distances for each age group –

Every gala has two relay events in each age group. One is a medley – backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and front crawl, the other is all freestyle. In the Minor galas all relay events are 25m and in the Major all are 50m.
There is also the Cannon relay at the end of each gala - freestyle. A boy and a girl from each age group are chosen, this is a 25m event, which is usually very exciting!
The ‘League Relay Gala’ follows the same pattern regarding age groups, but is from the ages of 10 years and over. All events are 50m and there are freestyle and medley relays. This is usually held October.
